Saturday the 13th was Record Store Day and I brought a stack of new jazz to play for the shoppers. My scheduled one hour set was extended on the spot when someone bailed on the set after mine. I inserted a short “Beep” around the 1:03:00 mark to distinguish the planned portion of the set from the second half. (Savvy listeners will hear two additional tracks off the recent Jeff the Fish compilation and wonder why I didn’t play music from other new releases instead. The answer is I only had a limited selection with me and no time to go home and get more records)
As an aside – shout out to Ebi Soda, an awesome new group from Leeds. They had the most people approach the DJ booth to ask about them. If the same music was coming out of London it would be all over the top 10 lists but a four hour trip up the M1 has kept a lot of people from getting to enjoy these young folks.
